Always & Forever EP

So, in 2007 I made an agreement with a Canadian label to released my third solo album. The label seemed very excited to both press a new album AND re release my previous two albums (both of which I will post online here for free soon). I began recording the NEW record in 2008, did 3 sessions which turned into 6 songs with vocals and 2 without. At some point the label heard the stuff and literally stopped speaking to me. I took that as a sign it wasn’t meant to be.

Around this time I became busy with some other projects and lost interest in the entire “Always & Forever” concept of the record.

I played sporadically for the next couple of years and inserted one or two of these songs into my set but the debacle of the record falling apart took the wind out of my sails on ever finishing the record.

Thankfully, Grant Howarth at Outhouse Studios gave me a mix down of the stuff that had vocals and upon re-listening to it, there is some “good” stuff in there-kind of. Anyway, I decided since I have this site, I may as well post the stuff…

So, here is what would have been 1/2 of the third album had it ever seen the light of day.

Porter Hall/Western Grace/Porter Hall

After Showdown76 came to an end, (1998) Munro, Ross, myself and Todd formed Porter Hall. We recorded a 3 song demo, then an album called “Ten Month Soundtrack”. I left the band and they recorded a great record without me called “Everything I know is stolen”. It had this guy named Darren doing the singing/guitar work on it and while it was a very different sound it was REALLY cool.

Then in 2008, Todd, myself and our friends Chad and Phil formed what we were calling “Western Grace”. We played a couple shows AS Western Grace and then found out there was another band already called that SO we went back to using Porter Hall. We recorded 5 songs in 2009, played a handful of shows, then pretty much fell off the map.

Here’s all the stuff that I recorded with Porter Hall/Western Grace.

Showdown76 Discography 1994-1999

A band I played guitar for and the bulk of the back up vocals was Showdown76. We all came from a bunch of other bands (All Rights Reserved, The El Caminos, ICare, Sineater and countless others). Showdown76 released 2 cassettes, a CD, and a 7″. There were a BUNCH of compilations and stuff BUT this is the jist of the “official” stuff. There isn’t a lot online about the band re. photos, but here are some gig posters from back then…

If you listen to the discography in order you can hear the band go from being a mid-90′s pop punk band into post (pre?) emo (for lack of a better term) band.

After the band broke up Munro, Ross and Myself formed Porter Hall (more info about PH later maybe). Doug didn’t play music again until he and Ross joined up again and formed Hope Defeated in 2010.

…old, REALLY old, All Rights Reserved photos

•May 3, 2011 • 2 Comments

Matt, who was the original guitar player (and singer before I joined the band) for All Rights Reserved uploaded these gems the other day. He said it was cool for me to post them, so here they are. I am not 100% sure, but if I had to guess I would say these are 1991 or 1992.

These gave me a good laugh. I had a lot more (blonde…?) hair and a lot less weight. Enjoy.

Hey, here is a couple ways to listen to our single “The Mountain”. It’s a slightly different mix than what is on the album. Enjoy.

Hey, here’s a couple new podcasts (well new episodes) that have come up recently.

Episode 12: The “douches” get together and talk about Wes Craven, “Run, bitch, run” and politics.

…and of course, the latest episode of Movies about girls is full of sex talk, twin peaks, gay bars, Thor, Kudrow, Sorvino, prince tribute bands and a whole lot more.

When you’re done with all that be sure to hit up Cherrybombed.com, Swilson, and Thorcentral!
